Entrepreneurial thinking for artists and designers
The Creative Entrepreneurship Certificate empowers artists, designers, and content creators to apply entrepreneurial thinking and business acumen to launch creative ventures or navigate entrepreneurial careers.
Through a three-course pathway, you’ll gain the language, tools, and professional practices to identify opportunities, read market trends, and build a distinct brand or business model for your creative practice.
What you’ll be able to do
Design a business model
Evaluate and design viable business models for both small and large-scale creative ventures.
Apply core business principles
Understand branding, marketing, management, and operations as they apply to creative projects and new ventures.
Plan your finances
Demonstrate financial literacy by creating budgets, pricing strategies, and financial plans for entrepreneurial or freelance work.
Courses
The certificate is a three-course, nine-credit credential designed to be completable alongside your major. All three courses can also count toward the Business of Art and Design minor, so if you’re thinking about doing both, the certificate is a natural starting point.
Courses may also fulfill general education electives or open electives, depending on your program. Check with your advisor to see how the certificate fits into your plan of study.
